Pakistan’s cricket captain, Babar Azam, received special treatment from Indian authorities and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as he arrived in Ahmedabad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 All Captains’ Meet. Babar Azam, who leads the Pakistan cricket team, made the journey from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad in a private jet, underscoring the significance of the event.
The All Captains’ Meet is scheduled to bring together all ten cricket captains participating in the ICC World Cup 2023. It will take place at a prominent hotel in Ahmedabad on October 4. The event will include a photo session with the captains, where they will share their thoughts on the upcoming World Cup and field questions from the media.
Babar Azam had previously been with the rest of the Pakistan squad in Hyderabad, where they participated in warm-up matches against New Zealand and Australia. Pakistan’s first World Cup 2023 match is scheduled for October 6 in Hyderabad. This explains why only Babar Azam traveled from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad for the captain’s meet. Following the event’s conclusion, he is expected to return to Hyderabad in a private jet.
Pakistan Cricket shared a video of Babar Azam boarding the private jet. During this brief trip, he adopted a casual attire, wearing trousers, a T-shirt, and a white cap. The video captures Babar taking selfies with airport staff and the aircraft’s pilots, showcasing his friendly demeanor.
Upon landing at Ahmedabad airport, Babar Azam was greeted by hotel staff who welcomed him warmly. He was then directed to the hotel room where the Indian cricket team’s captain, Rohit Sharma, had already checked in. In the video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Babar and Rohit can be seen sharing a jovial moment. This reflects the healthy relationship that exists among cricketers from India and Pakistan.
The much-anticipated clash between the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, is scheduled for October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This match is anticipated to be one of the most significant battles of the World Cup, alongside the knockout stages and the final scheduled for November 19. In their previous ODI encounter during the Asia Cup 2023, India emerged victorious with a commanding performance against Babar Azam’s team. Pakistan will be aiming for redemption when they face India in the World Cup match.
