Entertainment Tonight has revealed that Hilton’s 2023 memoir, aptly titled “Paris: the Memoir,” has been acquired by the renowned production company A24, with plans to adapt it into an engaging miniseries.
Unlike her previous television endeavors, which showcased her lavish lifestyle, this new project is expected to shed light on the lesser-known aspects of Paris Hilton’s life. This may include delving into the trauma she endured during her time in the troubled teen industry and her experiences at Provo Canyon School.
As of now, specific details about the cast and the release date for the miniseries remain undisclosed, as the project is still in its early stages.
Hilton’s decision to share her deeply personal experiences with the world stems from her desire to expose the injustices she and others faced during their time at Provo Canyon School. In a 2022 interview with The New York Times, she revealed harrowing accounts of her past, saying, “They would take myself and other girls into this room and they would perform medical exams. It wasn’t even with a doctor, it was with a couple different staff members, where they would have us lay on the table and put their fingers inside of us. I don’t know what they were doing, but it was definitely not a doctor.” She went on to disclose that it wasn’t until adulthood that she recognized these actions as sexual abuse.
These revelations aren’t entirely new, as Hilton previously discussed her experiences in her 2020 YouTube documentary, “This Is Paris.” In addition, she took her advocacy a step further by supporting the Accountability for Congregate Care Act in Washington, D.C., a move aimed at improving the regulation and oversight of such facilities.
It’s worth noting that, in response to Hilton’s allegations, Universal Health Services, which acquired Provo Canyon School in 2000, reached a substantial $117 million settlement in 2020. However, the organization has declined to comment on the operations or patient experiences that occurred prior to that time.
